Prof. Bruce Kogut
Insead

Bruce Kogut is Professor at INSEAD. Until December 2002, he was the Dr. Felix Zandman Professor at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania where he headed the Reginald H. Jones Center.

Bruce Kogut has been a visitor at the Ecole Polytechnique, Stockholm School of Economics, Wissenschaftszentrum, and Santa Fe Institute. He works in the area of development economics, technology policy, privatization, and complexity.

He recently finished a report for the World Bank reviewing their privatization policies in East and Central Europe. In June 2003, Peter Cornelius (now senior economist Shell Corporation) and he published an edited book on Corporate Governance and International Capital Flows, Oxford University Press, which was presented at the 2003 meetings of the World Economic Forum. An edited book, The Global Internet Economy, was published the same year by MIT Press.

Predicting the Past to Analyze the Future


The growing interest in complexity is reflected in a remarkable burst of research in strategy and other fields. One of the implications is of multiple causality. Equally important is the potential to understand our world as one of many possible worlds. In the course of this exploration, it is useful to consider future worlds, including our own, through changing the past.
