The Technische Universität München (TUM) is one of the most prestigious schools in Germany. Being a medium-size university by German standards (20.000 students, 480 professors, 8.500 total staff), its total turnover regarding research grants, however, ranks the TUM among the top three German universities. In January 2000, the TUM was awarded as most innovative university in Germany.
The main campus of the Technische Universität München is located in the heart of Munich, being the location of the university's management and many important faculties such as the TUM Business School. Within the last years a spacious new scientific and technical campus was established in Garching which is growing steadily and embraces the faculties for Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Informatics. The Garching campus will be the location of the EURAM2005.
The third campus at Weihenstephan/Freising houses the faculties for Agriculture and Life Sciences - the famous TUM-brewery is unique!
